Is it Worth Posting Over the Summer? Only If You’re Saying Something That Matters.

When school’s out, it’s easy to assume your posting should be too.

There are no new events, no new photos, the hallways are silent, and let’s be honest, after the year you’ve just had, you’ve earned a break.

Summer isn’t time off from your mission. It’s the moment to reveal it.
Summer isn’t time off from your mission. It’s the moment to reveal it.

But here’s what I know:

Jewish day schools don’t just teach during the school year. They shape lives year-round.

And right now, when the noise quiets down, you have something rare: A chance to tell your story with space. With soul. With purpose.

Why Post in the Summer?

Not to promote programs. Not to push reminders. But to gently remind people why your school exists and why it matters.

As parents continue to scroll, prospective families remain engaged. And your voice? It’s still needed.

What Should You Share?

You don’t need new content. You just need to look at what you already have through a different lens.

Here’s how to find what’s truly worth sharing:

1. Look for quiet moments that carry weight. Not the performances or staged smiles but the moments of quiet Jewish pride, the small acts of kindness in your classroom that reflect your school values, or the moments that sparked identity.

Ask Yourself: “What photo made me pause this year?”

2. Identify the moments that align with your mission. Scan past posts to find which ones reflect who you are, not just what you did.

Ask Yourself: “What moment would tell a prospective parent what we stand for?”

3. Revisit the powerful moments that stay with you, the moments that make you smile when you think of them. It might be a sentence a student said, a hallway interaction, or even a heartfelt goodbye hug from a student or parent. If it lingers with you, it will connect with others.

Ask Yourself: “What still gives me goosebumps?”

4. Choose images that tell more than they show. Is it a photo of a child lighting Shabbat candles? A photo of a student comforting a friend. Or a photo of a teacher kneeling beside a desk, engaged in helping the student?

Ask Yourself: “What photo feels like our values in action?”

These aren’t just photos, they’re messages that tell your community: This is what matters here.

Summer posting doesn’t have to be constant. It just has to be real. You shouldn't have to work this summer. But your story can.

Even one post a week, if it's rooted in purpose, can spark connection, curiosity, and a sense of pride.

When we step away from the classrooms, the teachers, and the everyday moments, we remember what they give us.

That’s the quiet power of summer posting.

It reminds current families why they chose you and invites prospective families to see what they’ve been missing. Most importantly it gives your community something to hold onto, even when school is out.

So no, you don’t need to post constantly, But don’t go silent.

Because when your story keeps showing up, so does your impact.
